ROOKIE BLUE SEASON 2 DVD RELEASE: MAY 29!!!
One of my favourite scenes in Warehouse 13.
Or as I like to say “The four most boring reasons they could have possibly picked.” (Not that those reason’s aren’t valid of course. They’re just really obvious and I don’t think they adequately explain why Warehouse 13 is so popular)
How about “Race’s 4 reasons why Warehouse 13 continues (or at least we are assuming it will continue) to kick ass and top the Sci Fi Genre”
1. It’s a smart show, that doesn’t take itself too seriously. Yes, we as fans love really smart shows, but - much like the long running Stargate SG 1 - Warehouse 13 appeals to people who love history, science, literature, mystery, while still being funny. It laughs at itself and it includes the fans in that humor. Its uplifting, not degrading. It celebrates intelligence while still admitting, “yeah, most of us feel kind of (or really) awkward sometimes.”
2. It has avoided the (almost always) overdone cliche of “leading man/leading woman SEXUAL TENSION.” Let’s face it, unless the show is Castle or Fringe this trope is generally a recipe for disaster as shows run the UST into the ground, or drag it out forever until fans are just throwing up their hands in frustration. Pete and Myka are the world’s best Bromance, brother/sister relationship and its perfect. It allows for sweet, sometimes emotional moments but doesn’t drag the show into territory it doesn’t need to be in.
3. It has an equal number of varied, three-dimensional, kickass female characters. (Even if I would like to see more of Leena). I cannot stress enough how freaking happy this makes me. Even if I still want to kick Jack Kenny when he gives interviews and sounds surprised when saying things like, “the show has a really high female viewership.” OF COURSE IT DOES. FANGIRLS EXIST DAMNIT. And if you give us smart, fun TV that doesn’t degrade or marginalize women, and *gasp* allows them to be heroes too, OMG WE WILL WATCH IT. (I know, shocking right?)
4. H. G. Wells. Yeah that’s right. She’s on this list. Know why? Because I tried watching Warehouse 13 in the first season. My reaction? “Meh.” Not bad, just not interested. And then the show gave us H.G. Wells. Helena G. Wells, with her utter brilliance and tragic past, her complicated motives and Jaime Murray’s subtext with Joanne Kelly. And I was hooked. If it were not for this character, I never would have given Warehouse 13 a second thought. Instead, it has taken over a ridiculous amount of my life and I am counting down the days till the Season 3 DVDs come out, and Season 4 premiers.
5. (Because I couldn’t resist) Jinks coming out to Pete. Because I cannot think of one single instance on an American TV show where one male character comes out to another (straight) male character and the response is “awesome.”
Jules: I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have jumped on you like that.
Sam: No, it’s okay. I get it. We all wanted them out safe…
Jules: What?
Sam: I don’t know if we should do this. Sneaking around on the team. We put our lives in each other’s hands, and…
Jules: Yeah, and you’re thinking we should take a break.
Sam: I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m thinking.
Jules: Me neither.
Sam: Okay, so… take a break tonight? Give us time to think?
Jules: Or… we could think while priming my drywall.
Sam: That’s not fair. You know how much I love priming drywall.
Jules: Yeah, almost as much as you love my protein-mango breakfast smoothies.
Sam: Don’t do this to me.
Jules: I’m just saying.Flashpoint 1x12 - Backwards Day
